Home to the year-round warm sunny beaches of Miami lies the eclectic fashion-forward boutique, Mimo Market. This organically grown boutique was founded by friends Lisa Tam and Leilani Sanchez. Who both dreamed of opening an outlet where they could share their love for fashion and art.
Their journey began after moving to New York to pursue their careers in fashion merchandising. After landing jobs in the creative fields of fashion editorial and corporate retail, both craved the creative freedom of starting up their own business. “Miami was always home, and Wynwood inspired us in many ways. So we gave it a risk, quit our full time jobs and took a leap of faith to pursue our passion.”
Inspired by the small local boutiques of New York and Los Angeles, the girls created and developed their quaint and charming aesthetic. Nestled in the heart of Wynwood, lies their first store decorated with a cozy ‘rough-lux’ interior. The boutique showcases both independent and international brands catering to both women and men. Each item is curated and hand picked to inspire and enhance firstly the consumers personal style, and secondly the boutique’s overall character and elegance.
A significant defining feature of this raw boutique is its interior design concept. Lisa and Leilani both had a passion for the natural, industrial and vintage elements of the shops they frequently visited in New York and LA. Their interior designer, Mark Diaz took this into consideration and created a beautiful combination of rusty walls and reclaimed wood that meets splashes of gold and glass chandeliers.
“Shopping should be exciting. We want to create a space where a simple activity can be a memorable and fun experience because that’s how we like to shop!”

An important focus of the brand is energy and ambiance. A focus that aims to spark interest and wonder. A place where you feel the need to absorb your surroundings, feeling instant warmth and good energy. The communities that the pair target their curations and products to are the creative, confident and fun individuals. They’re aware of the current trends, however they like to put their own twist to it to express who they are.
Lisa and Leilani travel to trade shows to find new designers for their shopping outlet, however Mimo Market’s main ethos is to support other small businesses and local talent. Therefore, they work with independent artisans who create handcrafted, affordable items. Some brands Mimo Market features include a variety of international and domestic designers. This includes designers such as Mink Pink and Jack by BB Dakota, Little Hawk Jewellery and Leila Faghani.
With special thanks toLisa Tam and Leilani Sanchez for their personal comments.
