Art, fashion and design have recently been favoring futuristic aesthetics that unconventionally coalesce multiple mediums to present choreographically artistic forms. These innovations are embodied in Zeitguised, a design and visual artistic studio based in Berlin. Featuring the collections of multiple international artists and designers, Zeitguised encompasses media ranging from sculpture, fashion, architecture, film and more.

One of the notions that is intrinsic of Zeitguised, is movement. It is therefore no surprise that they were able to successfully add a lyrical and poetic element to their new project, named “geist.xyz” or “Void Season”. It displays multiple handcrafted textiles constantly in movement, floating around a void space to create a unique type of “artificial choreography”.

A multitude of colors and textures of procedural surfaces are presented in a hypnotic, futuristic style, as if the textiles are prancing algorithmically. By manifesting textiles in such a fluid and malleable manner, Zeitguised transforms the typically passive quality of visual design, into something animated, always undergoing metamorphosis.

Additionally, unlike traditional textile displays in which they are worn by the model, Zeitguised’s textiles look as if they are being manipulated by an abstract vacancy — eerie ghost-like movements that contain a sense of its own personality.

Yet the sensationally overwhelming aesthetic is contrasted with void backgrounds. The minimalistic quality of the solid and static set, juxtaposes the loud aesthetic of the subject matter, making their patterns, textures and designs even more three dimensional, captivating the audience.

The textiles themselves are 0% organic — everything is synthetic. By doing so, Zeitguised illuminates the idea of a completely artificial approach to designing fabrics that enhances the project’s futuristic element. In their own words, Zeitguised wants to create a “synthetic estate aesthetic” that leaves viewers mesmerized. Through “Void Season”, Zeitguised blurs the differentiation between analog and digital, clearly demonstrating the future of fashion in such unprecedented means.
