Promoting young artists in the field’s of fashion and photography, the Hyères Festival has revealed a number of essential names in the world of fashion. Spotlighting young promising artists, the festival proposes diverse exhibitions, professional panel discussion’s and competitions.

Past jury leaders of the fashion prize have included Karl Lagerfeld, Raf Simons, and Dries Van Noten. Now in its 31st year, designer Julien Dossena of Paco Rabanne is taking the lead to discover the latest wave of design talent.

Hailing from France, the U.S., Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, and Japan, the fashion finalists of 2016 were truly impressive. Innovative Finnish duo Hanne Jurmu, and Anton Vartiainen, were crowned winners of the Chloé Prize, which included a €15,000 grant and the chance to collaborate with the brand. Japan’s Wataru Tominaga took home the grand prize for his brightly coloured, pleated, and heat-taped menswear. Whilst this year’s photography prizes were credited to Vendula Knopova and French photographer Anaïs Boileau.

Exhibiting an array of new and archived gowns, Dossena’s ‘Work in Progress’ and multimedia exhibition of Klein’s seminal film Who Are You, Polly Maggoo? (1966) gave the French festival a captivating twist.
