Despite the current times of financial difficulty, the fashion industry remains one of the most stable sectors. Though due to its extremely competitive nature, many still adopt the more brick-and-mortar approach to networking and gaining brand awareness, despite the incorporation of digital marketing. The so called “getting yourself out there”, if you will. Last week, Hausie had the pleasure of taking seven of our best designers to the trendy Shanghai trade show: Ontimeshow.
Ontimeshow is an invitation only, Shanghai based trade show which has garnered unprecedented success in its 2 years of activity. With two shows a year; Ontimeshow hits the standard fashion calendar seasons of Spring/ Summer and Autumn/ Winter. Connecting fashion brands with buyers, agents, and distributors in China – the show is the contemporary gateway into China’s booming market. Industry professionals from across the fashion industry, press, and retail sectors were present. Coinciding with Shanghai Fashion Week each season, Ontimeshow is just one of the many buzzing events where industry professionals congregate.

Exhibiting with Hausie was Argentinian and New York based brand; Frassai. Founder Natalia Outeda was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and relocated to New York at a young age. Integrated into her designs is the merge of European sensibilities with the edge of New York City. After years in the fine fragrance industry developing perfumes for major brands, Natalia began her own label which infuses the senses into jewellery.
Joanique – the face of creativity. The emerging contemporary brand’s debut collection; Maskara, is inspired by the Filipino festival “Masskara”. The word is a portmanteau of “mass” (a multitude of people”, and the Spanish word for face (cara). The Filipino word for mask (maskara) makes the overall name of the festival a cultural pun. Founded in 2011 by designer Malou Romero, the brand aims to present Filipino artistry with contemporary creativity.
Myriam SOS is the London brand you need to be looking out for. Myriam Soseilos was born into a family of accountants, and years in the accounting, advertising, and journalism industries only pushed her need to explore her creative side. Her designs are the perfect blend of minimalism meets design detail, meets sheer intelligence. The “Transformers” collection pushed the designer to entrepreneurship; winning awards such as “Designer of the Year” twice, and “New Designer of the Year”.
Taara Jewellery is a gemstone lover’s paradise. Designer Megha Jain took a leap of faith and moved from New York to Hong Kong in 2008 to explore her creative side. The label combines the old school charm of ancient treasures and modern applications; producing jewellery pieces of eclectic taste. Much like her own journey, Taara Jewellery is the child of East meets West.
DELA ÉVA bags are sure to bring the final statement punch to your outfit. London based designer Ninz was born in Austria. With a love for the Renaissance; DELA ÉVA bags are modern re-imaginations of Renaissance art. Bringing together womenswear and accessories, the design elements within the bags are always unexpected. The first collection “Theatre of Dreams” illustrates the power of our dreams, and alludes to all things fantastical.
Mirror Mirror is one of the many Thai brands making impact on the international stage. Made the highest of quality, Mirror Mirror jewellery focusses on a bold, innovative style, reflective of the young creative duo behind the brand: Kajee and Sukanya. Aiming for perfection in contemporary jewellery; the brand is already making waves.
As with most of Hausie’s designers, Ivan Petterson is another story of self re-invention. The Swedish designer began his career in product and graphics design. Feeling restrained by the work of a graphics designer, Ivan founded IVAN as another creative outlet gateway. Delivering “wearabale architecture”, the collection “Primitive” is the expression of Petterson’s own beliefs and aesthetics that design needn’t be complex to be beautiful.
Look forward to Hausie Showroom’s next trade show event, next year; March 2017!
