Despite the current times of financial difficulty, the fashion industry remains one of the most stable sectors. Though due to its extremely competitive nature, many still adopt the more brick-and-mortar approach to networking and gaining brand awareness, despite the incorporation of digital marketing. The so called “getting yourself out there”, if you will. Last week, Hausie had the pleasure of taking seven of our best designers to the trendy Shanghai trade show: Ontimeshow.

Joanique – the face of creativity. The emerging contemporary brand’s debut collection; Maskara, is inspired by the Filipino festival “Masskara”. The word is a portmanteau of “mass” (a multitude of people”, and the Spanish word for face (cara). The Filipino word for mask (maskara) makes the overall name of the festival a cultural pun. Founded in 2011 by designer Malou Romero, the brand aims to present Filipino artistry with contemporary creativity.

As with most of Hausie’s designers, Ivan Petterson is another story of self re-invention. The Swedish designer began his career in product and graphics design. Feeling restrained by the work of a graphics designer, Ivan founded IVAN as another creative outlet gateway. Delivering “wearabale architecture”, the collection “Primitive”  is the expression of Petterson’s own beliefs and aesthetics that design needn’t be complex to be beautiful.
