A Pop Up boutique culture is blossoming in Hong Kong. The city enamoured by big brands, is slowly falling in love with it’s local talent. Set the the bustling centre of Lan Kwai Fong, Select Seven at The Loop boasts a carefully curated array of Hong Kong’s emerging designers. Never short on exquisite design taste and an eye for detail, this pop up is but a mere introduction to those unfamiliar to the young future of Asia’s hub. Hausmag had the opportunity to meet some of the brands present and discover more about their philosophies.

ESEMBLĒ (pronounced assembly) is an up and coming leather goods brand created by Alex Jiaravanont, Tink Wong, and Amy Ho. An experienced creative team, the trio are venturing into new endeavours via ESEMBLĒ. The brand “represents the lifestyle of a modern girl looking for authenticity in a fast pace metropolis”. Celebrating the smaller things in life, this philosophy is translated via meaningful design details. In their opening collection, you’ll find cute reminders, such as “make waves”, printed in foil inside the bags, reminding you to enjoy the simpler things.

Vanessa Tao’s design is reminiscent of Céline meets Chloé. Sophisticated and charming, the silhouettes are feminine and feature a variety of textural delights. We spoke to the designer, who commented on her latest Autumn Winter collection, titled “Starry Night”. Taking inspiration from constellations, the collection appears to have sprung from a dream land. Vanessa said the allure of this collection was the unexpected; “From far away, the prints look like a geometric floral, but up close you’ll see stars and constellations.”
