To stand out as a rising young fashion photographer in this age of digital saturation is harder than ever, however, Taiwanese fashion photographer and art director Paul Jung is one of the few who’s presence has been recognised across the board. Graduating from Istituto Europeo di Design  in graphics design and Masters in Photography from the School of Visual Arts, Jung is no stranger to image creation. His clients and collaborations range from V, i-D, Vogue, COS, BMW, Dover Street Market, Comme des Garçons Trading Museum and Melitta Baumeister, to name a few.

Jung’s work spans from fashion photography to music video direction. No matter the medium, his visual aesthetic remains solid. It’s sharp, with minimalist textures, and wide expanses of block colour. Jung reduces his subjects to the rawest of shapes. The photographing people, the stretching of limbs, fabric, and contrasting grey backgrounds blur what is body and what is object. The ambiguity in his imagery is mystifying.

“Photography is simply a means to an end, what’s interesting is what is communicated, and the journey towards it.”
