A fashion collection characterised by enchanting print designs and bold contrasting colours, with a whimsical flair is Blind by JW. By mixing the disciplines of art and fashion, Blind by JW creates it’s poetic and carefree style whilst bringing a fresh approach to prints, colour and fabric.
Founded in 2012 by two fashion designers Jessica Lau, and Walter Kong, Blind by JW is a Womenswear and Accessories fashion label with a contemporary mix of the East and West’s inspirational lifestyle. After graduating from London’s Central Saint Martins, and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the duo both worked in luxurious fashion brands before setting up their own label and now newly opened concept store. This successful collaboration lead to being elected for Best Emerging Fashion designer award in London and winning the Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers’ contest.

Defined as clean chic with an edge, the brand aspires to showcase the best in localised design creating endless possibilities for art and design. From graphic patterns that are transformed into dramatic landscapes reminiscent of a Chinese painting printed on clutch bags, to beautifully constructed garments, this collection taps into women’s ability to express their inner creativity and beauty.
In terms of their latest collection, the designs feature intricate hand drawn techniques using pencil and watercolours to illustrate the outside world, aiming to enhance the fairytale narratives that weaves their way throughout the printed garments. The collection is based on the romantic love story `Cat in Boots’. A magical fairy-tale of a beloved feline cat who travel around the world trying to find her true love. Delicate, soft shades of blossom pink mixed with a dark violet characterises its colour palette. Infused with three different prints, beautifully crafted jacquard, and 3D lace. This stunning combination produces a mythical motif.
The concept behind their brand is to create a richer shopping experience. “Nowadays there is a hyper trend in shopping online, no need to step outside and shop at your convenience. However we would like to go differently by looking back at the real roots of the shopping experience at our retail store offline,” says Jessica and Walter. Similar to old markets in Hong Kong with different stalls for food. Blind gathers local designers and those around the world to create their offline stall. Brands that are stocked with Blind by JW are Pomch and Fave by Kennyli.
