A nation once dubbed as the “U.S. tourist playground” of the 1950s, frozen in time for over five decades – Cuba is opening their exotic gates once again.

The renowned “crown jewel of the American Mob’s underworld empire” once attracted an average 200,000 Americans annually, bringing with it Hollywoods Golden Era. As the rich and famous basked in the countries radiant culture, an aura of romanticism emerged inspiring authors such as Ernest Hemingway to document their cultural references. The renowned master wordsmith, formed the backdrop for an abundance of his novels, particularly ‘The Old Man and the Sea.”  Adored by the Cuban people, the rambunctious writer became known as “Ernesto” whilst the farm he lived in became a pilgrimage in the 1950s for Hollywood’s rich and fashionable. (NY Times, 2015)

Whilst the Hemingway spirit still encompasses the tropical Island, the current diplomatic situation has given it a timely edge. As the estimated 11.2 million people retain their occupied designer imagination, the fashion world fashion is tasked with channelling the Islands frozen zeitgeist.
